Gratitude and Resilience

Encourage Gratefulness: by modeling and practicing it. Make a grateful sayings poster. Keep a good stuff portfolio and/or journal.

Emotional Awareness and control: Resilient people are comfortable with the whole range and appropriately expressing how they feel. If stuck, teach children to talk to a parent or trusted adult.

Impulse Control: stop and T-H-I-N-K before deciding how to act. What is your intention?

Realistic Optimism: Reach for your own personal stars and keep your feet on the ground.

Flexible Thinking: Look at life from different perspectives to increase creative problem solving.

Self-Efficacy: Self-Confidence: Self-Compassion: If you are confident and know how to cope with what life throws at you, self-esteem will follow.

Empathy: Connect with others to build strong and supportive relationships.

Reach Out: Failure is not something to be avoided. By trying new things, we learn more, achieve more, and enjoy life more.

Parent and School Community

Parents know their children better than anyone. A parent's positive attitude toward school and learning is critical to school success. Raising healthy children is hard work. Giving your children your time by reading to them, encouraging schoolwork completion, playing outside together, building positive memories or traditions, and setting a good example are so important!

Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of help in any way. Sometimes just finding resources in the community or school can make a difference. Sometimes if we know of changes within a family, we can support your children better. Your child's teacher is a good contact, too. Together we want to work with you!
